"Osteo" stands for bone (from the Greek osteon) and "pathie" means disease or illness (Greek: pathe). It could be paraphrased as "disease or illness caused by misalignment or immobility of the bones." Osteopathy is a much broader term.

Osteopathy is a manual, hand-guided method of treatment. Using gentle grips and targeted touch, the osteopath releases, unblocks and frees anything in the body that is not flowing, moving or pulsating properly. This can be energy, cerebrospinal fluid or spinal fluid, but also lymphatic water, blood, tissue fluid or oxygen.

In the living organism, everything must be in constant motion. The cell components must also move within the individual, tiny cells. Where movement is disturbed, "still water" is created. No oxygen, nutrients, vitamins or minerals enter and the waste products cannot be removed.

And it is precisely here that the germ, the potential for the development of a disease arises: vascular calcification, osteoporosis, infections, damaged intervertebral discs, arthrosis, tumor or cancer.
