As osteopaths, we use knowledge of the anatomical and functional relationships between different areas of the body through connections such as muscles, nerves and blood vessels. These can influence and interfere with each other.
For example, just as blocked joints can radiate painfully throughout the body, internal organs can stress the body in other places through their fixation and nutritional structures. Or a fall on the buttocks can affect the skull and cause headaches there.
The interrelationships of the various systems are brought into an individually developed scheme. The treatment is applied accordingly.
By freeing the body from tension and tissue changes, the body's own self-healing powers can once again work undisturbed. As a result, normal function is restored as far as possible. The complaints recede.
